Promoting Well

May 7th, 2008

My dad forwarded me this card he got in the mail this week, and it’s just cracking me up. Pardon my cold heart, but man, talk about hard sale! I can’t even begin to imagine being exciting about winning their drawing. Am I missing something, lol?

Smile

April 29th, 2008

If this doesn’t make you smile, your smiler is broke. Happy Tuesday, world.

Mornings at our House

April 29th, 2008

We have a very steady routine at our house every morning. Namely, the kids get up before they’re coherant and wander zombie-like to the living room where they do this:

(Can you believe that hair?! She’s actually looking at the camera, lol.)

And there you have it. The way we start our day - every day, without fail. Now I’m off to motivate them toward some cheerios.

Down on Hawthorne

April 27th, 2008

I’m in love.

We spent Saturday afternoon down in the Hawthorne District, and there was so much to take in, so much to absorb, and SO much color and texture down there. I went nuts with my camera, just like a kid in a candy store.

Then we grabbed some coffee and were entertained by a man riding on his ten-foot-tall green bicycle, dressed in black with huge feathered wings on his back. (This is the same guy later, passing as we were getting back in our cars.)

And this is a total luck shot I grabbed, holding the camera out over our table and pointing it in the general direction of coolness without really looking. I think I really like it!! And I think I want a red mug like that one, too.

And these next two were taken in a little coffee shop right around the corner from Hawthorne - cool, cool place. Their restroom totally cracked me up. Can a body look at that door and NOT smile?!!

Fidget Draws

April 24th, 2008

I don’t even know where to begin on this one, so I think I’m just gonna put it up here and let you giggle.

Counting Puzzles

April 23rd, 2008

Fidget has been enthralled with puzzles this week, and has been working on some counting skills. One, three, seven, sixty eight, four hundred, nine . . . you know how it goes. He knows better, but likes to make mommy laugh.

And the reason for that look? No, it wasn’t the puzzle causing consternation - he had to go potty!!! He’s laughing all the way to the pot ’cause he fooled me, lol.

Confessions

April 23rd, 2008

I am SO cracking up here tonight. I had a “memory moment” here today and was reminded of a cassette I had in high school. In searching for it tonight I came up empty, but I did find one of my favorite all-time albums from that era. I think I listened to it in secret, but I LOVED it. I worked in a Christian book store in the early 90s, right when christian rock was coming into its own. Ahhh, the memories.

Anyone remember that little gem? I was just listening to bits of it this evening here, and Sparkle thinks I’m nuts. I think she might be right. But man, what a time that was back then!!! I even remember most of the words!

Didja Know?

April 22nd, 2008

Did you know that The Salvation Army is beginning to open Boutique’s around the country? I just heard on the radio this afternoon that there’s a new one in Tigard. A boutique. The Salvation Army. Are you cracking up too? I am, but I want to GOOOO!!!! I need me some cool little chairs and and things to sit upon.

Stock Photo Sets

April 22nd, 2008

I haven’t mentioned any new stock photo sets here in a while. They’re there in the shop at SBG - a bunch. And I have so many more I just need to take the time to pull together. Life has been busy. Good, but I’m definitely out of practice in the juggling department, lol.

These are just some fun sets I’ve put together in the past two weeks from around the house and around our area as we’re out geocaching. Spring had sprung last month, but now we’re battling snow and hail and all that other craziness - it’s April in the Pacific Northwest!!! And so, so weird. It messing with my photo schedule, that’s for sure. But I know there are sunny, warm days ahead. Woohooo!

Toothless Donuts

April 22nd, 2008

Do you ever have those months where you feel like you have to crawl back up over the edge of the earth and rebalance yourself? It’s been crazy busy, and silly me keeps forgetting to take my iron. So I drink more coffee, which makes me need more iron, which makes me tired, which makes me want more coffee. . . Yeah, you get the picture. I’m glad I like coffee.

We have some big news again! Last week it was Fidget and no more diapers. This week, still no diapers. (NO, that’s not the news. And YES I know that’s what you were thinking. My mom even thought that this past weekend when we showed up with a pink box that said “Good things come in pink boxes.”) Um, nope. Sprinkle lost his first tooth!!!

Now this is funny, but shhhh . . . you can’t tell him I said this. He was asking how you put a tooth under your pillow for the toothfairy, because “I’ve never done this before, Mom. And I don’t want to get it wrong!” So he wrote a note to the toothfairy, wrapped it around his tooth, put it in a security envelope, sealed it up and feel asleep dreaming of piles of money. Father and I had some fun and sneaked out the envelope, steamed it open, took out the tooth and the letter, put in some money and a whole bunch of fairy glitter. When he woke up the next morning, I found him rubbing fairy dust all over himself to see if he could fly. I love little boys. He’s very, very happy.

Now on to that pink box. We took a little trip Saturday afternoon and hit VooDoo Donuts. Oh my heavens, the best donuts in Portland. I’m not kidding - they have the award on the wall of their shop. SOOOO good. So worth the drive. SOOO yummy. My dad will shoot me for posting these, but hey - what goes around comes around. I figured it was about time for one of these of HIM, heehee.

Sparkle’s had Captain Crunch all over it:

Sprinkle’s had rice crispies and peanut butter drizzles:

My dads? I’m not sure which three flavors he got. (Just kidding. I’m pretty sure there was chocolate involved.) I had a blueberry cake one, father had a mango filled one, and there was some fighting over the rest.

Fidget ate his too fast to get a picture in. I think we’re going to change his name from Fidget to Scarf.
