Toothless Donuts

April 22nd, 2008

Do you ever have those months where you feel like you have to crawl back up over the edge of the earth and rebalance yourself? It’s been crazy busy, and silly me keeps forgetting to take my iron. So I drink more coffee, which makes me need more iron, which makes me tired, which makes me want more coffee. . . Yeah, you get the picture. I’m glad I like coffee.

We have some big news again! Last week it was Fidget and no more diapers. This week, still no diapers. (NO, that’s not the news. And YES I know that’s what you were thinking. My mom even thought that this past weekend when we showed up with a pink box that said “Good things come in pink boxes.”) Um, nope. Sprinkle lost his first tooth!!!

Now this is funny, but shhhh . . . you can’t tell him I said this. He was asking how you put a tooth under your pillow for the toothfairy, because “I’ve never done this before, Mom. And I don’t want to get it wrong!” So he wrote a note to the toothfairy, wrapped it around his tooth, put it in a security envelope, sealed it up and feel asleep dreaming of piles of money. Father and I had some fun and sneaked out the envelope, steamed it open, took out the tooth and the letter, put in some money and a whole bunch of fairy glitter. When he woke up the next morning, I found him rubbing fairy dust all over himself to see if he could fly. I love little boys. He’s very, very happy.

Now on to that pink box. We took a little trip Saturday afternoon and hit VooDoo Donuts. Oh my heavens, the best donuts in Portland. I’m not kidding - they have the award on the wall of their shop. SOOOO good. So worth the drive. SOOO yummy. My dad will shoot me for posting these, but hey - what goes around comes around. I figured it was about time for one of these of HIM, heehee.

Sparkle’s had Captain Crunch all over it:

Sprinkle’s had rice crispies and peanut butter drizzles:

My dads? I’m not sure which three flavors he got. (Just kidding. I’m pretty sure there was chocolate involved.) I had a blueberry cake one, father had a mango filled one, and there was some fighting over the rest.

Fidget ate his too fast to get a picture in. I think we’re going to change his name from Fidget to Scarf.

TWO weeks?!!!

Where did they go? I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted here. Life got crazy, BUT . . . listen to this. Announcement, wonderful blog people - after nine long years, this house is DONE with diapers!!!! Wooot!!! Wooot!!! I’m SO excited about that. Yay Fidget man. Accident free the whole way. Oh, the powers of goldfish crackers and mini-marshmallows.

Now let me start with the most recent and maybe in the next day or two I’ll get everyone fully caught up.

Another fabulous weekend meant a little more geocaching for our family. But first we had to live out a family tradition - grabbing dinner at Burger King and pulling in at PDX to watch the planes take off and land while we ate. The kids LOVE to do this, and the evening was incredible.

This man and his dog were pulled over on I-205 as we were getting on. You’d never guess we were in the middle of metropolis, would you? What a moment.

And this last one just cracked me up. I feel safer now. How about you?

Saturday we wandered along Lacamas Heritage Trail right here in town, and had a ball watching geese and canoers and salamanders galore. The weather couldn’t be beat.

And here we all are, watching those critters in the water:

And now just let me say - take your camera with you everywhere. It’s these little moments that make our lives so big. And if we don’t capture them in some way or another they slip by and before we know it they are forgotten. Shoot shoot shoot!

I forgot to add this one shot from the other night over at my brother’s house. Can you believe this child doesn’t even jump any more when the shutter clicks or the flash goes off? He’s got his own paparazzi, rofl.
